With huge succession they managed and completed the soccer world cup 2006. This business venture will operate from the By Word of Mouth head office in Parktown before moving to new kitchen premises early in 2010.
By Word of Mouth hiring department has taken delivery of a fantastic new range of designer items, like crockery, this making all your events look like masterpieces. To view and use our new exciting range, have a look at our website or call Ashleigh Reid on 011 444 6364.
Due to the current economic climate, we have designed less expensive menus to accommodate the “budget busters”. These menus are all made up of stock items so we are in no way compromising on both quality and quantity.
Valentine´s Day
For this special occasion, By Word of Mouth caters for romantic dinners for two. Bookings are essential to avoid disappointment. We could simply deliver the food, send a chef, or do the entire function from the catering right down to the hiring, staff, entertainment, décor and flowers.
This newsletter showcases some of our spectacular events of 2008. These functions were executed by By Word of Mouth in their entirety, which included, event planning, tailor made decadent menus, unique entertainment, décor, look and feel and professional service.
Enjoy!
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Top Tips for
Summer 2009 |
|
|
Must have party trends to create the perfect event:
- Shades of grey and charcoals
This works well with touches of blue, pink, white and black .
- Coloured glassware
Different glassware must be used like, coloured vases, glasses, under plates and plates.
- Loads of different candles
Using candelabras, hurricane lamps and different sized pillar candles together works incredibly well.
- Less cluttered tables
All tableware needs to be selected carefully to make a statement.
- Under plates with contrasting napkins
Crystal is making a huge comeback together with different shades and textures.
- Going green
Organic and environmentally friendly parties are hugely popular and certainly make a fashion statement. Simple centre pieces such as cabbages in glass vases or a mixture of vegetables and a type of loose flower in a vase are great party ideas. |

Safari wedding
|
 |
|
|
By Word of Mouth was honored to team up with Aleit for this wedding. Together we formed a fabulous team creating a dream wedding for the magnificent bride to be. The bush wedding was perfect for such an intimate affair. The only difference for us at By Word of Mouth was that once the truck was loaded it had to travel slightly further than usual with no turning back. We experienced no difficulties and the wedding ran according to plan with every detailed order of procedure laid down by Aleit who thinks of each and every event to happen next. This helps immensely to execute the WOW factor on the day. It was truly a magnificent setting for a wedding to create a memorable occasion.
By Word of Mouth created a spectacular yet simple menu, using local flavor and cooking techniques combine with international trends, as this was an international wedding in the middle of the bush.
Please see the February Food and Home magazine for more details on By Word of Mouth and Aleit’s creation for this spectacular wedding.

Sanlam - made in SA
|
 |
|
|
By Word Of Mouth had the privilege of working with Sanlam to create an amazing and unforgettable event. It all started with a very crucial briefing. We soon realised that we are going to have to really think out of the box for this one. The main theme was fashion but the challenge was to incorporate South Africa’s different elements of culture without making it look over decorated.
These elements included proudly South African, World Wide Fund, Sanlam Educational projects and the divisions of Sanlam.
Together with our client, we designed some exceptional funky ideas using fashion to tie in all the elements. Everything had a WOW factor! From the serving of the food to the lampshades made our of giant dress hoops. Our favourite was the long entrance resembling the back stage of a fashion show with clothing rails, hangers and light bulbs.

Jack´s Army Party
What a great theme for adventurous little boys! Covering themselves in mud, playing with water pistols and braaing their own stick breads, a day of fun was to be expected.
From the moment each child received their invite, they knew they were in for a special treat. Orders were to come in army gear and prepare for battle. On arrival at the party each child had their faces painted with mud and received a knapsack packed with yummy snacks and of course water pistols. As you can imagine, war broke out in the garden and no man was left standing dry.

Flowers and Fashion
Not often do we get the chance to get the chance to do something fabulously inspiring and alternative, however, for the Sanlam Fashion Awards at Atlas Studio we had the opportunity to set exciting new trends. This included making dresses for mannequins and creating chic afro centerpieces using black carnations.
We incorporated protea flowers and shwe-shwe cloth to keep the look and feel African with a fresh difference.
We have always believed that flowers used in the most natural form was the best, however, after the first black spraying launch, we realized that the effect of black arum lilies, black roses or carnations create a striking effect. You will definitely be seeing more of this in 2009.

Flowers and Budget
Along with everything in our world today there is no likelihood for the flower industry not to be effected. Keeping flowers simple and seasonal is definitely the most economical for any occasion.
There is nothing as spectacular as a single open garden rose peeping over the edge of your grandmothers antique crystal vase.
Utilising items from your home creates a fun and personlised touch to your party.

Unlocking your potential
|
There are many ways to unlock your potential, and a group of Deloitte Alumni women were given the opportunity to do so at a by Hazeldene Hall on the 3rd of October 2008.
The event was based around the book ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ which was written by Elizabeth Gilbert. Jenny-Cryws Williams was a guest speaker at the event and focused on an array of books and personal experiences to inspire the group.
The women were treated to a lunch around the reflection pond, which consisted of chilled cucumber and lemon mousse served in martini glasses and seared sesame crusted salmon fillets served on a lemon risotto and charred summer vegetables. Each square table was dressed in white and the By Word of Mouth Floral Division created a serene setting using orchids, floating flowers and white pebbles in mirrored boxes.
Each table had a guest speaker, who was there to inspire the ladies to take up a new hobby. The speakers included a personal trainer, mosaic artist, photographer, pianist and a professional bridge player.
Our last little surprise was laid out in the drawing room and was definitely awe inspiring! Set on a large white antique table was a variety of ingredients used to make the most incredible desserts. Each guest helped themselves to these ingredients and created their own unique dessert from a selection of meringue discs, biscotti, lemon curd, homemade biscuits, vases of chocolate mousse, caramel sauce, berry coulis, homemade sweet caviar and a variety of other exciting ingredients. The outcome was spectacular and each guest really showed how well they could unlock their potential.

Neil´s birthday party
I would just like to send a message to yourself and all the staff on Friday night to say THANK YOU for making Neil´s birthday party so special.
Kathu was amazing and a real credit to “By word of mouth”. The other staff, as well as Bina the chef made the party so special and were so pleasant to everyone.
The preparation of the food in the open plan kitchen worked very well I think as everyone that walked past stopped to look and chat and then went outside to report on what food was coming. It actually made it more special.
Friday night only highlighted the professionalism of your company and the excellent customer service levels you offer,
Hope to see you all in the future again,
Absolute amazing function
We would like to thank you, and the excellent staff from Word of Mouth for an absolute amazing function.
Thank you for making our event a success. The food was outstanding, the waiters where great, Guy was just such a pleasure to work with, and he took a lot of my hands which enabled me to look after my customers, and provided a very professional service.
The following received from one of my customers,
“Thanks so much for an absolutely stunning evening. You really did your clients proud, and the party was out of this world. Lovely people, lovely food and lovely surrounding.”
Thank you once again.
