I cannot believe that autumn is already here! What a busy start to the year we have had. We have just returned from an unbelievable trip to the states where we attended the biggest catering and events conference in the world. It is at this conference where we decided what new merchandise to buy for our rental company and what trends we thought we would introduce into the South African market.

CONNECT THE DOT
Our brief for this function was to encourage client´s to connect and socialize with one another on an informal level.
Our creative team had a brain-storming session and came up with a very unique idea and decided to call the event “CONNECT THE DOT”. Emphasis of this idea was to connect very different combinations in a fun and informal manner.

Our floral designer Anneline is challenged every day during this tough economic climate to work with her budget to create her amazing floral displays, we all know that flowers are expensive and because of this reason By Word of Mouth floral design came up with a simple and effective way to keep costs down by renting out lasting “flower arrangements” that can be used many times over, thus reducing costs drastically. For example: potted Peace in the home in glass vases, orchids in glass vases with bark, aloes in vases, potted in mud and water lilies in vases. All these arrangements make a huge impact when placed on tables, cocktail tables in reception areas and on coffee tables and in turn it is extremely fashionable at the moment. |

What an Experience and privilege to be a part of such an amazing wedding concept. We actually could not believe when the bride first phoned in for a quote on her five day wedding in the Seychelles. At first we wondered if we would be able to pull it off, the logistics involved was just insane. But after many meetings and consultations we could not have been more ready for it. By Word of Mouth pulled it off with huge success and we are terribly proud of what we created on a tiny little island 300 km away from the nearest civilization. The whole wedding consisted off, 1 completely over the top Hawaiian theme beach party, this beautiful wedding night, an everything pink dinner party, a South African beach braai evening, an Indian Curry evening, a kiddies birthday party, a cake cutting ceremony high tea and don´t forget about the beautiful alfresco lunches and brunches. By Word of Mouth only took a team of four to pull of this magnificent event, two chefs responsible for all the breakfast lunches and dinners and two on the creative side responsible for all the decor and dinner setups. We can´t wait for the next one to come along.

2009 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for South African sport. This is the year where every sporting enthusiast whether Rugby, Soccer or Cricket will not be disappointed.
For the rugby supporter the Super 14 is already in full swing and is nearing the final stages. Hopefully one of the local teams can lift the trophy this year. The two local favourites are by far the Sharks and the Bulls. We then welcome to our shores the British and Irish Lions during June & July and then its straight into the Tri-Nations.
For the soccer enthusiast June is going to be unbelievable. The FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 kicks off on the 14th and runs until the 28th June. It sees the following teams; South Africa, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Egypt, USA, Iraq and New Zealand. This is going to be a brilliant warm up to the 2010 World Cup.
This is the year for the cricket loving fan. South Africa welcomes to its shores the following tournaments:
- IPL: 18th April — 24th May
- ICC Champions Trophy: 24th September — 5th October
- SA vs. England: 13th November — 18th January 2010
By Word Of Mouth will cater tailor made menus for each sporting code as well as each individual game. The only way to compliment the above top quality sport is to enjoy it while eating top quality food from By Word Of Mouth Caterers.

We are so excited to announce that BY WORD OF MOUTH has joined the Little Pink Book team of collaborators in Gauteng!
Johnny Hamman (Creative Director of By Word of Mouth) joined the Gauteng Collaborator team of Edith Venter, Aleit Swanepoel and Karla Oettler.
The aim of the Gauteng launch party was to introduce the Little Pink Book to service providers and suppliers to the wedding industry in this part of the world. They launched the Western Cape issue 6 months ago and found that Gauteng had just as much need for our pretty little pink book. A separate Gauteng issue of the Little Pink Book will be on sale by June 09.

Dear Marietta,
Many thanks for all your help last week. I wanted to write to you this morning and let you know how successful the function was on Friday evening. The tables and centre pieces were beautiful. I must say you were right to advise we go with the bronze on the terrace! The food was really delicious and we received numerous compliments on the quality of the menu and the elegance of the presentation. Your staff were extremely organized, professional and polite. Greg handled everything as soon as he arrived on site leaving me to enjoy the company - and the wine! All in all a wonderful experience. Would I use you again? Definitely, you're a PA´s dream come true - I got all of the credit and none of the work!!! Well done and thanks again.
Best regards,
Lorna

Hi Kerry,
Thank you very much for organising an outstanding party!
There was such attention to detail and a really good understanding of my vision.
The staff were all superb and the waiters were world class.
Greg was an excellent front of house and ran the show effortlessly.
Huge compliments must be sent to your chef, Emily and her assistants. I am still receiving phone calls from the guests, raving about the food!
Jackie was excellent with her photos and I can´t wait to see them on Wednesday!
Once again, thank you for the most memorable party my husband and I have ever had!
We will definitely be in touch again for future functions!
Warm Regards,

Hi Karen and Adrian
Hope you both and the family are well.
BWOM catered at a friend of mines 50th birthday on Sunday (Saragas family). Janelle asked me to email you and to really compliment you on a fantastic job that you and your staff did. The food and presentation were really great (especially the birthday cake) but most of all the staff were highly professional, friendly and did your company great credit. All the guests were truly impressed and had never encountered catering at such a standard.
We had been to an “executive” function the night before where you had not catered and it was truly an eye opener to see how much better you are in every way.
Well done and best regards
Errol and Janelle Gottlich
