2010 is a year that we have all been looking forward to. We have beautiful new shopping malls, buses, our very own Gautrain, new roads, fabulous new hotels and slick designer stadiums.

With days to go before our major cities are full, we at By Word Of Mouth have been putting together fabulous new Afro Chic tables for this Proudly South African year. We have also put together an African Café menu allowing both locals and tourists to sample our fabulous cuisine from Mopane worms to Cape Malay curries and baboties as well as morogo, biltong bars and our wonderful game. We have even developed edible butternut spoons which can be topped with biltong pate and caramalised leeks.

Last year saw the beginning of our By Word Of Mouth´s eventing division where we put together some fabulous events, namely the RMB pantomime, WineX, The Starlight Classics, Whisky Live, a six day wedding in the Seychelles and a Moroccan dinner in the desert as well as our country wide “Quality Time” event for ABSA Capital which we have showcased below.

We are also proud to welcome Clive Johnson as a new member of the BWOM design team, bringing with him years of interior design experience and fabulous creativity. He is already designing some showcase events so watch this space ...

By Word Of Mouth´s décor and rental division is growing by the day, soon you will be able to browse through our catalogue on-line but in the meanwhile feel free to pop into our warehouse at: 10 Eastern Services Road, Eastgate Extension, Sandton.

We took the inspiration for our African table from the simple
beauty of the Kalahari. The sculptural quality of acacia thorns and
King Proteas are highlighted by the flickering of candlelight. Add
some enamel plates to give your table that unique South African
flair.

Valentine´s Day décor doesn´t have to use the same old recycled colour scheme of red or pink that we see year after year!

The stark simplicity of white décor and minimalist flowers is punctuated by the use of red chocolate writing and will compliment the mood of lovers everywhere.

Tightened belts need not mean boring table decorations. Our look for Easter 2010 takes you back to basics — think hand painted eggs, innovatively folded napkins and left over ribbon put to good use. Pastel shades and simple flowers work to complete the look.

Italians are renowned the world over for enjoying massive family feasts with lots of good wine and an abundance of cheese and this wedding was no different. Flavia and Deon wanted a family orientated wedding in which young and old could come and enjoy a day together under the sun.

The décor was simple yet very unique. There were no table numbers, instead each table was named after one of the couple´s favourite type of wine and on that table the said wine was served. Around the venue there were crystal bowls, lace and books covered in pattern paper. Small flower pots were placed on top of candelabras to portray the elegant yet relaxed feel the couple wanted for their Hazeldene Hall wedding. Champagne coolers were placed around the pond and guests were invited to fill up their drinks whenever they were empty. There was also a constant flow of food and the 5 course family feast went on way into the morning. The idea of people mingling, children running around and youngsters laughing in the corner is exactly what Flavia and Deon wanted.

Soccer fever has captivated everyone at BWOM. Why not capitalize on all the excitement with a 2010 themed dinner party? As usual we´ve gone a slightly different route and taken our cue from the fab, glam and slightly over the top TV programme — Footballer´s Wives. Who says bright vibrant colours and soccer balls don´t mix? Charcoal is still huge this season and is complimented not only by silver but a variety of colours too like pink or yellow and orange.
